Eagles fans nearly fall on QB Jalen Hurts after gate collapses at FedEx Field

13views

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts went largely untouched in Philadelphia’s win over Washington on Sunday, taking only one sack and three quarterback hits in a 20-16 victory that kept alive the team’s chances of making the NFC playoffs.

But Hurts nearly took a massive hit from his own fans as he exited FedEx Field following the game; a group of Eagles faithful crowded near the tunnel, eventually causing a gate to collapse and nearly sending them tumbling down on the second-year quarterback.

In typical Hurts fashion, he remained largely unflappable. He helped fans off the ground and even took time for a few pictures before event staff ushered him down the tunnel toward Philadelphia’s locker room.

That may have been the biggest hit Hurts took all day; luckily, he and the fans involved avoided serious injury. The Eagles will need him as the regular season winds to its conclusion. Hurts finished the day completing 17 of 26 passes for 214 yards and rushing seven times for 44 yards.

This isn’t the first time FedEx Field, consistently rated among the worst stadiums in the NFL, has become a talking point in 2021. A pipe burst over the heads of Washington fans in mid-September, with many wondering whether it was a sewage pipe.

Luckily for Hurts and the Eagles, their final game of the regular season will take place at home at Lincoln Financial Field, where a win against the visiting Cowboys will guarantee them a playoff berth.
