How To Get A Shiny Bulbasaur In Pokémon GO

While Shiny Bulbasaur is already available in Pokémon Go, the upcoming Bulbasaur Community Day will make it easier to find and capture.

Shiny Bulbasaur is currently available in Pokémon Go, but obtaining one is about to get a lot easier. Shiny Pokémon are amongst the rarest creatures in the game. Unlike mythical and legendary Pokémon, finding Shiny Pokémon is completely luck-based. These are just alternate-colored variations of classic Pokémon without changing its stats or abilities. Instead, it just throws out a little sparkle every time it’s sent to battle. For some, that’s more than enough to hunt them down.

For January 2022, Niantic will be hosting not one but two Community Day events in Pokémon Go. These are events where a Pokémon will have its spawn rate drastically increased for a limited time. Not only that, but the odds of running into a Shiny Pokémon increases to 1/25. These can last from three to six hours, depending on the event.

Shiny Bulbasaur is already in the game, but the standard odds of finding one is 1/500. Fortunately, Bulbasaur will have its own Community Day, bringing these odds down to 1/25. Bulbasaur Community Day will take place on Saturday, January 22, 2022, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm local time. This gives players three hours to find a Shiny Bulbasaur. Not only that but evolving this Bulbasaur into Venusaur will make it learn the Charged Attack Frenzy Plant. The Shiny odds will return to normal once the clock hits 5:00 pm local time.

There are the best ways to increase their chances of finding Shiny Bulbasaur:

  • The Fast Catch Trick: This is a method where trainers can skip the Pokéball animation when capturing Pokémon. There is no guarantee that the trainer will capture the Pokémon using this trick, but it does save time between encounters.
  • Run: If Bulbasaur isn’t Shiny, run and find the next one. Time is scarce.
  • Lure Modules: Placing a Lure Module on a PokéStop will increase the spawn rate of all Pokémon for players nearby. This means more Bulbasaur will spawn, indicating a higher chance at a Shiny.

Niantic will also host a Spheal Community Day in January. This means trainers are being treated to two Community Day’s in a single month. Like the Bulbasaur Community Day, trainers will have a better chance at finding its Shiny variant. Players should take this opportunity to capture as many of these Shiny Pokémon as possible. Save a few extras as they can be valuable bargaining chips in future trades.
