On a recent 90 Day Fiancé: The Single Life episode, Kaory was calling Big Ed “materialistic.” Is he using presents to get his way with women?
Recently, on 90 Day Fiancé: The Single Life, viewers watched Big Ed Brown get dragged by Kaory for being “materialistic,” and it’s not the first time that he’s gotten that type of criticism. His love interest Kaory made that comment after he gave her son Carlo a bunch of gifts, and viewers remembered other times when he tried to buy affection. He’s appeared in three seasons, with a different woman each time. Until he got engaged to Liz Woods offscreen, his attempts to find romantic happiness were unsuccessful.
Big Ed has admitted that he doesn’t have much luck with women, and he once revealed that he hadn’t dated in almost 30 years. It’s becoming clear to fans and critics that the way he repeats the same mistakes is part of the problem. Since his first appearance in 2014 on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 4, with potential fiance Rose Vega, Big Ed has seemingly been trying to buy the adoration of each of the women he has dated. After three tries at love, which played out in front of the whole world, viewers want Big Ed to finally figure it out. Unfortunately, in light of Kaory’s harsh comment after dinner, it seems like Big Ed doesn’t have all of the answers.
When Big Ed went to visit Kaory’s family, he brought along some belated birthday gifts for her son. While most would consider this a thoughtful gesture, and a noble attempt to solidify a bond with the young boy, Kaory felt differently. After Big Ed handed her son several gifts, including a jersey and some baseball equipment, Kaory told cameras, “Ed gave Carlo some gifts, but I didn’t think it was necessary.” She went on to call out Big Ed for being materialistic, which reminded viewers of Big Ed’s questionable scenes in the past. However, she offered him an out as she stated, “But I don’t think he understands.”
Although most viewers might remember the scandalous and embarrassing gifts he gave Rose in the hotel room on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, Big Ed actually bought her more than lingerie and toothpaste. In his introduction during season 4, he revealed an interesting fact that caused most viewers to question his relationship. “After about four weeks of Rose being my girlfriend, I started sending gifts every week… On gifts and shipping, I’ve probably spent over five thousand dollars.” That was a lot of money to spend on someone, particularly when he hadn’t even met Rose in person at that point.
Now that Big Ed has someone new in his life, it appears he’s resorting to his typical seduction techniques. Although Big Ed probably doesn’t have awful intentions, it’s clear that he’s not considering the big picture. Viewers are hoping for a better outcome for the 90 Day Fiancé: The Single Life star, but only time will tell.
